Anamaria Marinca is a Romanian born actress. Her screen debut was with Sex Traffic, a Channel 4 film for which she received the British Academy Television Award as the Best Actress. French, German English and Romanian are all spoken fluently. Her mother played the violin The father of her is a theater professor in one of Romania's best drama schools. She was awarded the Best Female Actor of the Year in 2000 Award at the Young Actor Gala Mangalia. In 2008 she was named an 'Eastern Shooting Star' European Shooting Star' by the European Film Promotion Board. In addition to her outstanding performance in her maiden film the actress is also recognized for her performance in the Romanian art-film 4 Months 3 weeks as well as 2 Days which won her many awards including winning the European Film Award for Best Actress London Film Critics. She was the lead in Cristian Mugiu's Romanian film "4 3 weeks, 4 months and 2 days" (4 Months Three Weeks and Two Days) that won her the Palme d'Or award at Cannes Film Festival 2007. It also received two other awards, the Cinema Prize of French National Education System (FIPRESCI Prize) as well as the Cinema Prize. Additionally, she was a part in the film of Francis Ford Coppola Youth Without Youth. She was also in 2008 as Yasim anwar, a character from the BBC Five-episode mini-series The Last Enemy. Marinca was a guest on The Romanian drama Boogie and Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven. Later, she had an important role in 2014's Fury where she was Irma the German aunt of Emma.
