Awkwafina
American musician and actor Awkwafina began her career with hilarious hip-hop tracks that addressed sexuality and racial identities with a the most outrageous comedy perspective prior to expanding her reach into Hollywood. Nora Lum was born to Chinese Koreans living who resided in Forest Hills Queens. Her first exposure to music was from the trumpet. After a classical and jazz education her interest in hip-hop grew when she was an teen. While in college, she took classes in the field of women's studies and journalism. Then, she even had some time learning Mandarin at the University of Beijing. Her focus shifted to music once she graduated. Her 2012 track My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success on the Internet before settling on her debut LP Yellow Ranger in 2014. On the album, there were other viral hits including Queef (body-positive) and NYC Bitche$1. The track that was the last one to be linked directly to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, which was published in 2015. After a successful career as a performer, she chose to assume the role of an actor. Alongside early shows such as Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films such as Neighbors to Storks. In 2018, she landed several breakthrough roles, such as Dude Ocean's 8 or Crazy Rich Asians. The EP debuted in June.
